Perform a color test on a hidden spot before staining the entire piece.
Use pencils designed for hiding nail holes and cuts.
Varnish.

Painting
Before painting, remove all traces of dust from sanding.
Normally, mouldings require three coats of paint. Two coats may be sufficient for primed mouldings.
Never paint mouldings with a roller brush.
It’s important to let the paint dry completely before applying another coat.
Sand the moulding with 220 or 240 grade paper between coats.
