A brief history
1942
- Mr. Roland Boulanger founds Roland Boulanger & Co. Ltd. At the time, the company manufactures doors and windows for the regional market. Its offices are located on St. Louis Street in Warwick, Quebec.
1955
- The manufacture of mouldings is added to that of doors and windows. The plant is enlarged and the market served now encompasses all of eastern Canada.
1972
- Acquisition of the company Les Manufacturiers Warwick ltée, a sawmill located in Woburn, Quebec.
1973
- The Boulanger plant is razed by fire in February, and rebuilt later the same year. The business shifts its focus to the production of doors and mouldings.
- In April, the Woburn sawmill also burns to the ground. It too is rebuilt in the same year.
1976
- Death of the founder, Mr. Roland Boulanger. His son, Guy, takes the reins as president and general manager.
1979
- Acquisition of the company Les Boiseries de l’Est, a moulding manufacturer located in Ste-Clotilde-de-Horton, Quebec. It becomes a moulding finishing plant.
1983
- Purchase of a building on Gingras Street in Warwick, which becomes a door assembly plant and distribution centre.
1987
- Boulanger acquires Moulures Bégin, a major moulding manufacturer located in Beauport, Quebec.
1991
- The production of mouldings is centralized in Warwick.
1993
- Boulanger stops manufacturing doors.
1995
- Boulanger achieves ISO certification.
- Acquisition of the company’s first finishing line.
1998
- Roland Boulanger & Co. Ltd is listed among the top 50 best managed privately-owned businesses in Canada.
- Acquisition and implementation of cutting-edge technology: artificial vision for sawing.
2000
- Acquisition of Lega Ltd., a company specializing in the manufacture of mouldings and decorative accessories. It is located in St-Germain-de-Grantham, Quebec.
2004
- The distribution centre on Gingras street is expanded, refit and automated.
- Acquisition of Industries Daveluyville Inc., a wood drying company located in Daveluyville, Quebec. Part of the building is converted into a transhipment facility.
2006
- Greater emphasis placed on developing global supply networks.
