Crown back cuts
Use the same approach for crown back cuts as with any other piece of moulding. Starting from an outside corner, mark a 90° angle and cut carefully along the line. This piece will close off the crown at the wall corner. You can also use crown back cuts for shelving or the tops of cupboards.
